Broccoli. There’s something about saying ‘broccoli’ that pushes that plate away automatically. We don’t know what this little tree like vegetable did wrong, but let’s just say it doesn’t have big fans. So we sat down with this Green, Mean, Fighting Machine and asked it a few things. And some of the stuff was really worth noting down, we promise.
1. Broccoli came from Italy
Off the Mediterranean, really. Since the time of the ancient Romans to be precise.
2. Broccoli is high in Vitamin C
1 Bowl of chopped broccoli = 1 Orange. Do the math.
3. Broccoli will fight away heart disease and cancer
Broccoli contains the flavonoid kaempferol. Kaempferol is an anti-inflammatory, helps fight against cancer and heart disease and prevents diabetes from kicking in.
4. Fiber Overload
Broccoli is high in soluble and insoluble fiber. Both of which you need.
5. Cabbage’s Brother
Broccoli is of Cabbage’s family. In fact, it translates as “Cabbage’s Flower”.
