We read somewhere that “New Year Resolutions are the To-Do lists for the first week of January”. And that’s probably true for most resolutions. But ‘food resolutions’ people, come on, it’s time we take those serious (well, not so serious) steps and inspire fellow foodies to try some easy and simple food goals to attain in 2018.
Here are some that we are trying in 2018. Why don’t you try out them as well?
1. Order Less Take-out This Year
Yes, take-outs are nice on the days you just don’t have it in you to whip up a meal. And we understand. But take-outs really do nothing other than fill your stomach. You don’t end up trying something new or exciting and neither do you end up having a wholesome nutritional meal. So try a little less take-out this year.
2. Less is Not More. Cook More
This is a great solution to the days when you don’t have the time or energy to cook and you are going to stick to the first resolution of not ordering take-out. Use your largest pot and cook double the quantities and freeze half the dish (not leftovers) to eat on a rainy day. This labour-saving trick means you always end up having a yummy nutritional meal on more days than one.
3. Dress Up Every Meal
Whether you are having a party or a meal with your family, make every dish look amazing. The better it looks the more enticing it’s going to be and the more ‘brownie’ points you score with guests and your kids alike!
4. Try A New Recipe Once A Week
Are you tired of your stock of dishes? Want to add something new to your repertoire? This is the way to go about it. It revitalizes your cooking techniques and expands your recipe horizon. It doesn’t have to be something complex or hard. When you just can’t squeeze in time, try something as small as a new method for making lemonade. But try something different every week.
5. The World At Your Fingertips
Travel the world without leaving the comfort of your kitchen. Try exotic flavors and be adventurous by mastering new cuisines. Get a new recipe for a cuisine outside your comfort zone and try it once a month and by the end of the year you have 12 exotic new dishes in your repertoire.
We could go on and on. But 5 is a good place to start, don’t you think? Let us know how you do with your food filled resolutions.
