15 Ice Cream Shops in Chennai to Celebrate The Beginning Of Winter [UPDATED]

on

Lots of people say that winter is not a good time to eat ice cream, but the truth is that ice cream can be eaten whenever you’re craving it and still enjoy it completely. Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy it when it’s cold outside, in fact eating the ice cream could actually warm you up because your body is building up heat to battle the cold outside and inside. That is not scientifically proven, but it’s definitely something that can be considered. Winter comes late to Chennai, if it does at all, and since the monsoons are also delayed by almost two weeks, you still have time to enjoy ice cream while it’s warm out.

The history of ice cream is varied and not really set in stone. Some say it dates back to 200 B.C in China, other say 400 B.C in Persia and some even say that the Mughal emperors had ice brought from the Hindu Kush to Delhi, where it was used in fruit sorbets. But the history doesn’t matter because all that counts is that it does its job in cooling us down when the temperatures soar up to 46º on a good day.

We’ve mentioned places to get a fix for your sweet tooth before, but how about specific places in Chennai where you can get delicious ice cream? Here’s our list to get your weekend going.
