13 Fruity Desserts To Make And Eat This Month

on

Some of the most popular desserts in the world are made using fruits, so this list makes sense. Plus, our mothers and grandmothers have always told us to eat more fruits. They never specified how we should be eating these delicious gifts from nature. Fruits are easy to add into any kind of dessert, whether it’s as a compote or the base, or just a dash of it for flavour, there’s something in every slice we eat. There are also the usual suspects when it comes to fruity desserts, but what really makes fruity desserts great is that there is a balance between sweet and tartiness and that’s difficult to find if you’re not doing it right.

In India, especially, fruits have a season. So while a lot of these fruits might not be available in your local store, it’s good to keep this list saved for another day, when you can make your very own Key Lime Pie or Strawberry Shortcake. In case you haven’t eaten yet, we recommend you do before you read any further, simply because the dishes we’re about to introduce to you are going to induce heavy drooling and serious hunger pangs.

Grilled Pineapple Sundaes

fruity1

This one is probably the easiest of the lot. Grill the sliced pineapples and then top it off with a scoop of ice cream, chocolate sauce and whatever else you want. You can eat everything from tip to base and that just makes this the perfect dessert any time of year.

Summer Berry Tart

fruity2

Who needs frosting, when you can have a layer of just fresh fruits? Whatever your poison, that can be your tart topping, but we’re going to recommend a berry combination. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and other berries that could work – wash them and once your tart is done, top it off and serve.

Key Lime Pie

fruity3

Hollywood movies have a way of making us wish we had a certain dish at a certain time. Key Lime Pie happens to be the favourite of a lot of characters, so it makes sense to have this here. It’s a very American dessert that uses Key Lime juice mixed with all your usual pie ingredients. And voila, you have your very own version.

Strawberry Milkshake

fruity4

This is the least complicated dessert on the list. Blend the strawberry into a pulp, add milk and yogurt and continue to blend. Line your cup or glass with strawberries and pour the shake in and you’re done.

Strawberry Shortcake

fruity5

This requires you making the shortcake while your strawberries are setting into a compote. Once your shortcake is ready, slice it up and then pour the strawberries and the syrup over each slice and add a dollop of cream to go with it. So simple.

Lemon Cheesecake Bars

fruity6

Your cheesecake gets a twist with a squeeze of lime, or two or three. Your main flavouring in this is obviously the lemon juice. Mix it all together and keep it in the fridge till it’s set, then you can slice them into tiny pieces and serve.

No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake

fruity7

Like the previous recipe, you just need to add strawberry syrup to the cream cheese before you put it in the fridge to set. And then when you serve, each slice can be covered in strawberries and syrup. Also, there’s no such thing as too much strawberry.

Blueberry Cheesecake

fruity8

Any bakery, in any part of the world will serve you blueberry cheesecake no matter what time of the year it is. Most of them bake their cheesecakes, but you can always make a no bake version, which is similar to the strawberry cheesecake process above.

Peach Cobbler

fruity9

This is a little more complicated than you might think, because you need to bake the dough and get the biscuit just right before you serve it. But peach cobbler is another dessert that Hollywood has made famous and will continue to do so.

Apple Pie

fruity10

Another staple of a bakery, apple pie comes in various forms. But the basic apple pie might just be our favourite. Slices of apple stuffed between two layers of pie crust and baked, then served with cold ice cream might just be the trick to make everyone’s day much better.

Rhubarb Pie

fruity11

Not a lot of people like rhubarb, but it’s a fruit with the perfect amount of tartiness to balance out the sweet that goes with it. The rhubarb needs to be made into a thick sauce of sorts before it’s added to the pie crust and then covered before it’s baked.

Raspberry Watermelon Popsicles

fruity12

Blend the raspberry and watermelon together to form a thick liquid, pour it into the molds, and freeze. Or you can level it out where you put the blended raspberry first and freeze, then add the blended watermelon and freeze before you serve!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

fruity13

When you’re baking it, the pineapple and cherries function as the base, with the cake batter poured over it. When it’s ready, you flip it over and serve. Seriously, it’s as simple as being baked upside down and served the right side up.
